"Ciavarella, in the most cynical fashion, assured that there would be ample juveniles adjudicated delinquent and placed in PA Child Care," one of the suits said. "As juvenile judge, he ignored law, ignored the constitution, and ignored basic human decency. He provided quick 'justice,' adjudicated children delinquent and ripped them from their parents in record time and in astonishing numbers."
ReplyDeleteIn this instance I believe that the reason the percentage of inmates is so increased is due to the careless court rulings done by the judges. If they do not take the time to be precise with decisions and are fine with unlawfully convicting individuals that may be innocent, then how could we have confidence that any other cases made would be reasonable unlike the others? I find this to be truly appalling because it definitely makes the criminal justice systems look like a joke. Clearly, these judges have a positivist view on law, but it appears to be positivist-on-crack because Instead of due process, thousands of children, among the most vulnerable members of our society, were victims of a wave of unprecedented lawlessness that within minutes of their court appearances, swept them away in handcuffs and shackles and placed them in detention or other residential facilities for months for infractions as trivial as shoplifting a four dollar jar of nutmeg or taking change from unlocked cars.
This is the perfect example of power corrupting absolutely. those who have power have a tendancy of abusing it and i find that this is the greatest example of superiors being irresponsible.
